About Nancy Henningsen, Ed.D, LCSW

Dr. Nancy Henningsen, a licensed clinical social worker in the Washington (DC) metropolitan area, has worked extensively with children, families, and adolescents, as well as with adults who have issues around anxiety and depression. Nancy worked as a school administrator for 30 years, so has indepth experience in understanding learning issues and interpreting individualized educational programs (IEPs).

Dr. Henningsen received her MSW from the University of Maryland and trained at the Veterans Hospital and the Washington Assessment and Therapy Services. She also has a BA from DePauw University, an MA from the University of Wisconsin, and an EdD from Columbia University/Teachers College.

Nancy provides a safe, non-judgmental environment for personal exploration. With children she uses role-plays, puppets, games, and art. She works individually with each client to clarify their pressing issues and to outline and pursue an appropriate plan of action. She is experienced in sand tray therapy and is certified in clinical hypnosis.

She also conducts frequent workshops on parenting, held in area churches, temples, schools, and workplaces.
